How do they work discounts in PrestaShop™?

The price of the product can be changed by these discounts/surcharges:
A  Catalog >> Attribute combination >> Impact on price (amount with tax)
B  Catalog >> Reduction amount (amount or percent with tax - till PrestaShop™ v1.3.7.0)
C  Catalog >> Quantity discount >> Discount value (amount or percent - till PrestaShop™ v1.3.7.0)
   or
BC Catalog >> Prices >> Specific price (PrestaShop™ v1.4.0.2 and later)
D  Group >> Reduction (percent, the highest discount on all groups to which the customer is a member - PrestaShop™ v1.2.0.8, 1.2.5.0)

These discounts/surcharges are calculated in order displayed. These calculations take effect on the price of the product display.
For example, if discount is 10% at any point: Price * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.9 = Price * 0.6561

 

The Category discount module is classified as point E in the chain of the price calculation.
When using the module, watch out for restrictions:
- Don't use built-in discount for a group. Set discount directly in this module.
- Don't use built-in ecotax. This module is not compatible with ecotax.
- Don't use more M4 *Discount modules at once.
- For PrestaShop™ v1.4.0.2 and later only
  Discount set in this module takes precedence over the Specific price of product (specific price will be ignored if discount in this module is set).

 

The important things are a default customer's group and a default category of the product.
The default customer's group is part of the PrestaShop™ version 1.3.0.10 and later.
For the PrestaShop™ v1.2.0.8 and 1.2.5.0, this module determines the default customer's group as follows:
  If the customer is a member of only one group (except the group with ID=1), then this is the default customer's group.
  Otherwise, the default group is the group with ID=1 (Default).
Since the discounts/surcharges in the module are set for the group of customers and category of products,
in cases of conflict is counted with those defaults.

The second category of discounts are vouchers. They are to be applied to the cart.

Function overview : Place new order

You can add your oders directly from the Back Office of you Prestashop store. You also can add your phone, fax and direct orders to the clients account.

 

Edit an exisiting order

You can edit your order in many ways:

• Optionally sending the order confirmation mail, or the "order changed" mail
• Change products (name, quantity, price, product combinations)
• Add/edit price reductions
• Modify the carrier and the shipping costs

Configuring Product Attributes

You can add multiple attributes to your products. An attribute is a product variation. For example, the same product can have a different color or a different size. In PrestaShop, we call that a color or size attribute.

To access this feature you must click on the "Attributes and Groups" tab under "Catalog".

Managing attributes and varieties

To add a group of attributes, or in other words to add a group of variation possibilities (colors, capacity material, etc.), click on "Add attributes group", fill out the form that appears and save.

To add a choice to the group of attributes that you just created, you must create a specific variation.
Select the attribute group then click on "Add attribute" and fill out the form that appears.

Fill out the value for your variation, then select the group from the drop-down menu into which it will belong.

To have a better understanding of this notion, a group of attributes can be a color or a capacity whereas the attributes themselves can be the color green, yellow, or brown, or a capacity of 4 pounds, 8 pounds, or 16 pounds.
For example "size" is a group of attributes and "6 7 8 9 10" are this attributes in this group.

You can see in the screenshot below how to edit an attribute: choose the attribute that you want to modify, and a form appears.

Click on the "edit" icon on the left of the color you want to edit, and a new form appears:

Choose the HTML color or upload a photo from your computer (if you’re displaying textures instead of colors, for example). The HTML colors will then be replaced by the photo of the texture.

This module developped by Librasoft let you add a block in the Front Office showing the Customer Service Phone number and some extra informations in few seconds.

 

You have the choice between 5 images and you can populate up to 6 text area directly from the back office.

The module adds the possibility for visitors and clients to ask and submit quotes regarding any product, and bargain for the best price. Recommended for catalog mode enabled shops (not mandatory)!

Your clients have the possibility to ask details about certain products. The process is very similar to the normal "Add to cart - Submit order" one, but obviously there is no checkout involved.

FACT: hiding a price does not mean that sales are turned off!

With this module, catalog mode enabled shops, and normal aones as the setting is not mandatory, can easely transform visitors into buyers, by letting them submit quotes and bargain for a good price. Specially if they want to purchase a whole lot of your goods!

Remember, if the final price is their price (agreed by you), will automatically give them an "i won" feeling, and a happy visitor, is most certainly a buyer!

What if a customer want to buy a whole lot of your goods? Or if the prices and purchase options are hidden, they should just look and head to contact page? No! Let them bargain for a price and obtain a real discount.

The process is very straight forward, as it copies the cart and the order process: adds a quote box in the left or right column, has an overview page, submit page (with OPC style option) and even a history page, where client can bargain with admin on the price!
